Happy Memorial Day everyone! We sincerely hope that all of you find time to go for a swim, a run, ride a bike, spend time at the beach, or in any other way do something that is truly relaxing and fun. We think that, in a way, all of those activities are tributes to the men and women who serve in the armed forces.

Now, to be clear, we also hope that you take a few moments to thank a Veteran for their service. The sacrifices made by Veterans is almost beyond comprehension. They can be forced to spend months away from their families. They may have to live in incredibly tough conditions. Their pay seems to be wildly out of line with the risks they have to take, and ultimately, they may be asked to even give their lives to protect everything we hold dear.

At Coeur, we are keenly aware of the fact that we wouldn’t exist as a company if it weren’t for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and members of the Coast Card. The clothing and gear we provide is of little use to someone living in fear, and we believe that thoughts of a personal best, a podium spot, or a ticket to Kona would likely evaporate for our customers if they didn’t live in a country as safe as ours.

All of that being said, we know that we have an incomplete perspective on this holiday. As civilians, we don’t know what it is truly like to serve and we feel that it would be insincere to do much more than to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Fortunately, one of our sponsored professional triathlete served in the Military and we asked her to provide her perspective on Memorial Day. Her name is Jessica Jones-Meyers and she’s an amazing individual. She’s a mom, a former Army Captain, a Combat Vet, and a West Point graduate.

Here’s the link to her blog. We’d encourage you to give it a read, take a moment to say thanks, and then go for that swim, bike, or run!

Happy Memorial Day Everyone.
